I am an artist and a scientist. I have Bachelors of Art focused on Visual Arts. Part of my senior thesis focused on creating paintings with soil, bringing my love of art and soil science together. I continue to produce soil paintings privately and at various events as a form of scientific communication. My community-led soil murals can be viewed just inside the entrance of Bradfield Hall on the Ithaca Cornell University campus.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO-UN) instigated a global soil painting contest based off of a soil painting event I led at Cornell University for World Soil Day in 2015. In 2017, I led the Cornell University team and we won the 2017 FAO-UN International Soil Painting Contest in the University category.
I am currently an MS student in the department of Natural Resources at Cornell University while concurrently managing the Cornell Soil Health Laboratory. My Masters’ work is focusing on quantifying the health of undisturbed grasslands with a goal of focusing on future remediation of degraded grassland soils.
Most of my paintings are commissions, please contact me through my contact page for prices.
